Homegym
Homegym equipment that is seen on TV is typically based on two types of mechanisms: Resistance rods home gyms or elastic based home gyms. Since the rods and rubber bands are portable compared to the weight plates found in a traditional home gym, this makes it more cost effective to ship for the infomercial homegyms.
Resistance Rod Based Home Gyms
The Crossbow home gym, Bowflex home gym, and Crossbar home gyms are based on a resistance rod system. The resistance rods are usually made of a form or plastic or fiberglass, and the resistance comes from bending of these rods. Rod based home gyms have become a popular innovation in home gym equipment simply because it is portable and easy to use.
Elastic Based Home Gyms
Rubber bands or surgical tubing are the main source of resistance for this type of home gym. The Soloflex home gym uses blocks of rubber for resistance. To increase the resistance, you would add more rubber bands to the home gym.
Overall, as seen on TV home gyms differ than traditional home gyms, however, they can be just as effective given that it is used on a regular basis.
