The town known as "Hyères-les-Palmiers" is one of the oldest seaside resorts on the Côte d'Azur. Lying east of Toulon, it encompasses the Giens peninsula and the islands of Porquerolles, Port-Cros and Le Levant. In 1887, Stéphen Liégard coined the term "Côte d'Azur" to describe the beauty of Hyères' scenery. At around the same time, the Mayor, Alphonse Denis, had many palm-trees planted in the town, which also contributed to its renown. Also benefiting from an excellent reputation, its harbour proudly bears the "European Blue Flag".
The property scene in Hyères is very diverse, proposing old and new homes, high-end and more affordable. In the case of apartments, clients are mainly comprised of retirees, first-time buyers and the locally employed. On the Saint-Pierre harbour, apartments enjoy unimpeded views of the Mediterranean in residences built from 1960 to 1990, which are still very popular.
