Keep in mind that there will be shipping charges applied on top of the price of the item. Also, communicate with the seller to make sure that the equipment is fully functional.

Classified Ads

Local classified ads have the advantage over auctions, because you can visit the seller of the exercise equipment and try it out before you buy. Although the variety of pre-owned exercise equipment will be limited compared to auction, the fact that you can contact the seller and drive to their location to test out the workout machine lowers the chances of being ripped off.

Refurbished (otherwise known as reconditioned or remanufactured) workout machines from a reputable company is the best source old, used fitness equipment. They typically have stringent procedures to make the exercise equipment as good as new. Also, often times a warranty comes with the refurbished machines.

Overall, buying pre-owed home gym equipment can save you a lot of money, however, be aware that fitness machines from auctions and classifieds do not come with a warranty.
