Tips for Evaluating Companies Who Supply Remanufactured, Used Gym Equipment

If you have never purchased remanufactured, used gym equipment, you may be skeptical that the low cost and high quality equipment is too good to be true. However, keep in mind that those who have purchased reconditioned workout equipment from a remanufacturing company do exist, and often times turn into repeat customers.

But as a smart consumer, you must watch out for companies that are unreliable and are out there just to make a quick buck. With the internet, it’s possible now for just about anybody to put up a webpage claiming to sell refurbished fitness equipment.

But this doesn’t mean that there aren’t any reputable remanufacturing companies online.

What you can do is contact the original fitness equipment manufacturers and ask them for recommendation for reconditioned exercise equipment companies. They can be a valuable source of information providing you with a list of reputable resellers of their fitness machines.

If you plan on making a big investment for your exercise room or home fitness center, consider visiting the remanufacturing company. You can go to their facility and pick out the equipment you want right on the spot.

Also, look for companies that have been around for many years, and keep their own inventory of refurbished exercise equipment.

Here are some red flags to look for when evaluating remanufacturing companies:

• Unusually low prices for brand new models (there’s usually a two to tree year period before a new fitness machine before it makes its way into the used gym market).

• See if they can provide a list of repeat customers from as far back as possible. If they can’t, be warned—the company may not even exist!

• Check their payment terms. They should be similar to new fitness equipment manufacturers. 50 percent upfront payment is normal. Also watch out if you find a remanufacturing company that does not accept credit card.

• Check the Better Business Bureau for the reconditioned fitness equipment manufacturer’s records, and make sure that they have a business license.

Commercial fitness equipment can be obtained cheaply and without hassle if you’re a smart consumer.
