Soloflex Home Gym

The Soloflex home gym has lost popularity over the years as a recognizable as seen on TV exercise equipment. It used to be the case that the Soloflex and bowflex home gyms ruled the late night infomercials when it came to exercise equipment. However, these days the Soloflex has become a thing of the past, and although you can find it being sold in retail stores and online, you’ll see a lot of their home gyms for sale in classified ads and on eBay.

Why has the Bowflex gym endured while the Soloflex virtually perished?

One reason is the type of resistance this home gym uses. The Soloflex is a variable resistance home gym, deriving its resistance from elastic bands known as “weight bands” or “weight straps”. These elastic bands can provide resistance to workout the muscles, and can be combined to create more resistance. The main problem with elastic bands is, just like rubber bands, that over time the bands will wear out. There have been user reports of holes developing in the Soloflex weight straps, and they eventually snap. This quality concern is a serious (and potentially dangerous) issue with the home gym from Soloflex.

Along with the home gym, Soloflex also makes the Rockit, adjustable dumbbells and barbells with a rotating grip.
