Leg Press Machine
A leg press machine is a one of the most popular resistance training exercise equipment in a commercial health club, and they’re also used in a home gym setting. Although they’re not as effective in working out your legs compared to performing squats with a barbell on the squat rack, they’re nonetheless effective.
There are basically two types of leg press equipment: plate loaded and weight stack based. A plate loaded weight stack allows you to add weight plates to adjust the load, and the weight stack leg press equipment changes weight by adjusting a pin on the weight stack.
One precaution when using the leg press is to be sure you’re using proper forms at all times with this machine. You want to make sure that there is a safety mechanism in place and ready on the leg press to prevent your knees from collapsing against your chest during the exercise. This can result in lower back and knee injuries.
Overall, the leg press is a good piece of equipment, but they’re not as good as its free weight counterpart, the squat.
