Home Gym Machines: Constant Resistance Equipment
Constant resistance home gym machines are equipment where the weight does not change during the lift. Most home gym equipment, such as plate loaded gyms and universal home gyms are based on constant resistance.
This is the most natural form of lifting weights; however with these machines it does not adjust itself while your muscles are fatigued. Also, the leverage changes during the exercise. For example, during a bench press on a home workout machine, you’ll have to push harder in the bottom of the movement compared to the top. This just means that you don’t have to work as hard during the top of the exercise.
There is gym equipment that is based on variable resistance (the weight changes throughout the lift); however, many sports scientists believe that training with constant resistance gym equipment is more natural and effective in the long run.
