An exercise ball is one of the most versatile exercise equipment around. It is economical, can be used as a weight bench, and you can perform abdominal exercises with a full range of motion on the ball. Balance and coordination are additional benefits when using an exercise ball.

Resistance bands and wrist weights are low-cost alternatives to a free weight set. Resistance bands can provide tension similar to a Bowflex home gym (they both produce variable resistance), and wrist weights allow you to exercise your upper body while doing aerobic workouts.
