Exercise Equipment Rowing Machine: Hydraulics and Flywheels
An exercise equipment rowing machine is an excellent way of developing your cardiovascular health. A fitness rowing machine allows you to train your heart and lungs without the stress associated with jogging outdoors or on a treadmill. There are basically two types of rowing machines, cylinder based and fan-blade flywheels.
The tension or resistance is controlled by a cylinder (hydraulic mechanism), where air or a liquid is compressed. The fan-blade flywheel rowing machine offers resistance through the air by moving the movement of the flywheel that has fan-blades attached to it. The pulling movement turns the flywheel, and the air generates the resistance. With this type of rowing machine, the harder you pull the more resistance you’ll receive.
The drawback of cylinder based rowing machines is most of the machines are constructed so that the rowing motion is not natural, and does not move in a straight line. Flywheel rowers provide a more natural feel, but they’re more generally more expensive.
Overall, working out with a rowing machine is an effective equipment to develop your aerobic fitness.
