The comparison of home gym equipment is based on many factors besides the price and appearance. Keep in mind that many home gym comparison that is done by the fitness equipment manufacturer’s themselves are biased towards their product. When comparing home gym and other fitness equipment, you want to get all the information that you can get your hands on. That includes consumer ratings and reviews, reviews from websites, etc.

Some of the things to consider in your evaluation of a product are:

Price

A home gym may get high ratings, but if it is above what you’re able to spend, consider a similar but lower cost home gym. For example, the Total Gym is a great machine, however, the lower cost option is the Total Trainer. It’s an identical machine at a lower price.

Effectiveness

What good is a home exercise equipment if it’s not going to produce results? During your comparison, be sure that the person reviewing the home gym has put forth the necessary effort in using the equipment. If they only used it for a few weeks and received no results, they have not given enough time and effort to the machine. 6 weeks of exercise with the exercise equipment is the minimum amount of time that you should use as an indictor of effectiveness.

Warranty Options

As a rule of thumb, the long the warranty on the home gym equipment, the better. There may be different warranties for separate components of the exercise equipment (such as a warranty on the frame and on the upholstery). Compare the warranty options before making a decision on gym equipment for your home workout room.
