Cheap Home Gym

Most people think that in order to build a home exercise room, you need to purchase really expensive home exercise equipment such as a home gym machine, a treadmill or a bunch of free weights. While this is an option for those who have the space in their house and the budget, some people can’t afford, or is unwilling to pay so much for exercise equipment. A cheap home gym is possible with pre-owned equipment, free weights, or even body weight exercise equipment.

Used Home Gym Equipment

You can get a complete home gym from buying everything used. If you look at your local classifieds, you will probably see that there isn’t a day that goes by without someone selling their home gym or bowflex machine. Keep in mind that although the used exercise equipment is inexpensive compared to a new home gym, you need to be aware that the machine won’t have a manufacturer’s warranty, and you need to pay extra attention when you’re inspecting the equipment (to make sure the home gym works properly!).

Free Weights

A weight bench and an adjustable dumbbell set is all you need for a total body workout. You can perform hundreds of different exercises with free weight equipment; however, you’ll need to spend time learning the proper form to avoid any injuries.

Bodyweight Exercise Equipment

A chin-up bar can be the only exercise equipment in your home. Along with chin-ups, you perform other bodyweight exercises such as push-ups, squats, and crunches. If you have a sturdy bar in your house already (or an I-beam) you can do chin-ups on that and you don’t have to spend any money at all on home exercise equipment!

In sum, a home gym can be made up of thousands of dollars worth of exercise equipment, or composed of no equipment at all.
