Bowflex Recall-What Happened, What you need to know, and what you need to do if you’re affected

Nautilus Direct (AKA Bowflex) recalled some of their home gym equipment due to a defect in some of their machines . Below is a breakdown of what happened during the Bowflex recall:
What Models were affected

1. Bowflex Power Pro without the Lat Tower . Affected models are those purchased before to October 2002

2. Bowflex Power Pro home gym with the Lat Tower . Affected models are: XTLU, XLU and XL) purchased before May 1st, 2004

3. Bowflex Ultimate home gym. Affected models are those purchased before to May 1st, 2004.
Injuries reported

Broken incline support bracket located on the underside of the bench causes sudden and unexpected movement with the bench or seat.

Some of the incidents reported lacerations that required stitches.

Also, the Bowflex home gyms with the lat tower included, the lat Tower itself can rotate forward and fall while you’re exercising. This is potentially dangerous and poses a risk of injury to the user.
What to do next

If you own any of the Bowflex fitness equipment mentioned above, and purchased the home gym from a merchant other than Bowflex you can request a free replacement kit by calling: 1-800-820-8604.

If you own any of these Bowflex exercise machines, then it is best advised not to use the backboard or the lat tower until the defect has been fixed.

Like any mechanical equipment , problems can happen. Bowflex responded promptly and professionally to the reported injuries showing their concerns with the health and safety of their customers.
