Abdominal exercise equipment is one of the most popular fitness equipment, simply because the abs is a body part that most people want to develop. Various infomercial ab exercise equipment have come and gone, but there’s always a new model being advertised on television. Do they really work? Are they worth the money? Here are some things to watch out for when considering exercise equipment for your abdominals:

Ab Machine Does Not Return to Normal Spine Position

Some abdominal machines keep your upper body crunched forward at all times during the exercise. While this is good in contracting your abs, your back does not return to its natural position, which could lead to you to flexing your abdominal muscles creating a rounded back. You can prevent this by stretching your spine after each set.

Abdominal Machines That Move at the Hip Joint

Some ab machines are designed for your upper body to move around your hip joint as opposed to the waist. In this case, the hips are the prime movers, and the abdominal muscles are simply stabilizing your upper body. Stay way from these machines unless you want to develop your hip flexors.
